Stritch Alumni Art Exhibition opens Feb. 26

Stritch's annual alumni art exhibition featuring Sue (Goetz) Lawton, BFA '02 and Anna (Fieldbinder) Kordsmeier, BFA '05 opens on Feb. 26. Both artists incorporate mixed media into their acrylic paintings. Sue Lawton’s “Tibia: Imagery from the Modern Opera” is based on an opera parody she wrote shortly after the 2004 presidential election. The story is meant to playfully poke fun at both 19th century romantic opera and 21st century politics. Anna’s Kordsmeier’s abstract topographies investigate the elusive and impermanent quality of memory.

The exhibit opens with a reception and opportunity to meet the artists on Friday, Feb. 26, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Live music by The Vitrolum Republic (6-8 p.m.) The exhibition will run Feb. 26 - Mar. 26 in the Northwestern Mutual Art Gallery in the Stein Center for Fine Arts on the north end of the Stritch campus. The gallery hours are noon-4 p.m. Sunday through Friday and admissions is free. For more information, call (414) 410-4105.
