Stritch’s Athletic facility revamped
The Athletic facilities at Stritch's main campus are undergoing a major overhaul this summer -- the first since the facility was constructed in 1985. The men's and women's locker rooms will be furnished with new lockers, restrooms, and fixtures, and eight additional offices for Athletic Department staff will be constructed. Literacy Centers receive $40,000 donation from Greater Milwaukee Foundation
Stritch’s Literacy Centers have received a $40,000 donation from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation to support programming in 2010. The Centers offer comprehensive literacy assessment and intervention services for students in grades K-12. "The generous support of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation is essential given current reading scores for the city of Milwaukee," said Kathryn Cox, special projects coordinator for the Centers.

Stritch Faculty Art Exhibition
This bi-annual Faculty Exhibition is currently showing in the Northwestern Mutual Gallery and highlights outstanding current work by Stritch faculty members. The exhibition features the works of Kim Abler, photography; Tim Abler, photography; Maureen Chavez-Kruger, scenic design; Hai-Chi Jihn, metals; Shana McCaw, sculpture; Sarah Nitschke, video; Steve Sellars, mixed media; Teri Wagner, mixed media.
The exhibition runs June 18-Aug. 29, 2010 and the opening reception will happen on Milwaukee Gallery Night, Friday, July 23, 5-8 p.m.

Stritch students keeping busy as WISN interns
Trevor Rees, Nana Yaa Bartels, Scott Wegener and Kendrick Batton are Stritch Communication Art students and interning at WISN-TV and WISN.com. They are responsible for covering stories and activities going on at summer festivals and posting them on the Web. Some stories might be posted as an article while others might be audio or video.

Dr. Donna Recht, assistant professor in the College of Education and Leadership, and Nancy Marsho, an instructor in the Master’s in Educational Leadership program, published “The Dilemma of Coaching: Synchronizing Coaching Practice and Educator Needs” in the Spring 2010 Highlighter, a publication of the Wisconsin Association of Curriculum and Development.

Bernal to play professionally
Recent graduate and Wolves volleyball player Fernando Bernal (Miami, Fla.) will play professional men’s volleyball in Switzerland for the Pallavolo Lugano Dragons. “It’s a very exciting time for Fernando and I’m very proud of him,” Coach Dave Schmidlin said. “He worked extremely hard this season and that paid off for our team and will hopefully continue to help him as he continues on in his professional career.”

Women's basketball golf outing to take place Aug. 1
The women's basketball team will be hosting their annual Wolves Golf Scramble on Sunday, Aug. 1 at New Berlin Hills Golf Course. Registration begins at noon with a shot gun start at 1 p.m. The participation fee is $100 per person and proceeds benefit the team.
