Dr. Tia Bojar announces retirement
After nearly four decades of service to Cardinal Stritch University as a faculty member, dean and executive vice president for academic affairs, Dr. Tia Bojar has announced her retirement, effective Aug. 1, 2014.

After helping to lead the preparation for a vigorous year-long self-study as part of the University’s Higher Learning Commission reaccreditation visit last month, Bojar feels the time is right to pursue other challenges and opportunities.

Faculty/Staff News
Dr. Jennifer J. Fontanini, associate dean of the School of Education, and colleagues Linda Carpenter, faculty in the Master of Arts in Teaching program, and Linda Neiman, former associate dean of the School of Education, published an article in the April 2014 Association of Middle Level Educators Magazine titled, Ask the real experts about good teaching. The article summarizes a recent study conducted by the authors in a middle school in Wisconsin that uncovered some fascinating insights into what middle school students think about good teaching.

Dr. Terry Steele and Dr. Carole Hetzel, faculty in the undergraduate psychology department, presented a poster at the Midwest Psychological Association conference in Chicago on May 1. The poster entitled, Cafeteria Wasteland: Convincing Diners to Discard Less Food, presented findings on the second phase of the food waste study currently being conducted on campus.
