The Cardinal Stritch University Class of 2013 will be honored in two commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 19.

The graduate ceremony for Master’s and Doctoral graduates will be held at 11 a.m., and the undergraduate ceremony for Associate and Bachelor’s graduates will be held at 3 p.m. Both ceremonies will take place at the Delta Center, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave, in downtown Milwaukee.

Approximately 620 students will receive their degrees this month, and 320 students will participate in the commencement ceremonies.

Commencement speaker and honorary degree recipient

Stritch is honored to welcome Al Costigan (pictured on the left) as commencement speaker for both ceremonies. He will also receive an honorary degree in humane letters from the University.

Costigan is the retired president/CEO of Level Valley Creamery, Inc. and a member of Stritch’s Board of Trustees.

Library enlists canine support to relieve end-of-semester stress

Certified volunteers from Therapy Dogs, Inc. visited the Library's Information Commons to offer students a fun-filled study break.

Students are invited to pet and play with the dogs during these times.

Therapy dogs are trained to help individuals struggling with stressful situations.

Rosalia Ballinger, user experience librarian, says that these events are becoming more common at universities to help students cope with the end-of-semester stress of final projects and exams.

"The end of the semester is such a busy and stressful time for everyone," said Ballinger. "Being able to pet a dog and unwind for a few minutes is a nice break that we can offer."
