A Great Start

We believe 2011 was a great year for the MBU Alumni Association, and we have even better plans and higher goals for 2012.  We started off in January with an alumni reception in Osage Beach, MO for alumni who are music educators.  We ended January by inviting alumna Kristen Pelster '92 to campus to speak to education students about how to land their first teaching job at our Backpack to Briefcase event series.  She was joined by MBU Trustee Linda Holliday, and together they shared invaluable tips with the students.

There are many opportunities to give back to your alma mater. You can choose to invest in the lives of students, helping develop tomorrow's leaders, inspiring them to be agents for change on a global scale. Honor a family member, friend, or loved one through an endowed scholarship. Help support new facilities and watch as MBU grows into the best of the best. Help expand the University's efforts to live out its mission through mission trips or various ministry groups.  There are many different reasons why alumni give back to MBU

In the coming months, we will highlight different projects that may be of interest to you.  Hopefully you will find one that speaks to you specifically.  You can choose to donate any time by going online or mailing in a check.  Contact Jon Vestal, Director of Development, if you have any specific questions about giving.

Alumni Spotlight: Greg Clemons (MBA '10)

"The education I received at Missouri Baptist University was excellent!  If I were to choose an MBA program all over again today, it would be an easy choice to return to MBU.  Great education and excellent professors in a Christian setting!  God has truly blessed this University and I look forward to the great things in store for MBU in the future!"

Why he chose to attend MBU: I chose MBU due to the excellent reputation it holds in the St. Louis region.  I compared a number of factors, including course offerings, tuition, flexible class times, etc.  After comparing these factors with other local MBA programs, it was an easy decision to make Missouri Baptist my choice for a Masters degree!

Favorite MBU Professors: There were a number of great professors during my time spent in the MBA program at MBU.  Two of those professors, Kevin Brockman and Stephanie Kontrim-Baumann, seemed to make that vital connection between the classroom and the boardroom for the students.  This connection allowed the students to see how the language in the textbooks can be put into the real world and made learning that much more enjoyable.

Favorite Memory:  The great thing about the MBA program is that you are able to build great relationships with other working professionals in the St. Louis area.  Attending class each week and building these friendships is not only a great attribute to the individuals who attend MBU, but it’s also a great memory of my time spent at the University.

Occupation: I work as a Human Resources Generalist at Savvis in Town and Country, MO.  To this point in my career, I have worked in a corporate role and also in a consultant role in the St. Louis area.  Without any doubt, the education I received at Missouri Baptist University has given me a great advantage in the work place and an excellent boost to my career!

Hobbies: I hold family and friends very close in my life.  No question, when I am not at the office, I always find time to do things with family.  I enjoy playing golf and going fishing whenever I get free time.

Family: As I mentioned above, God has blessed me with a great support system of family and friends.  I have a longtime girlfiend, Allison High.  In addition, I have 2 parents who live in New Melle, MO and 2 older brothers who live in Denver, CO and Tulsa, OK.
