A New Year

Throughout 2011 the Alumni Office shared news about all of the great things happening at MBU.  We hope you learned something about your alma mater and are proud of what MBU is doing.

This year we ask you to go one step further and become involved in your Alumni Association.  You can attend events, volunteer at events, help recruit students to attend MBU, or become a career mentor.  Look here for a list of ways that you can get involved.

Another way to get involved is to connect with fellow graduates.  Join us on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter and encourage your friends to do the same.

CONTEST TIME!  Tag "Missouri Baptist University Alumni Association" on Facebook by February 3 and be entered in a drawing for a $25 VISA gift card.  You can tag us by putting the "at sign" and our name in your status update, just like this: @Missouri Baptist University Alumni Association.

Do you know a Missouri Baptist University graduate who deserves special recognition?  Nominate yourself or a well-deserving alumnus for an Alumni Award.  Alumni Awards will be presented during Alumni Chapel on April 12.  See a full listing of the award descriptions, criteria, and nomination forms HERE.

The Perk: The Event

The Perk: The Event was a smashing success on Friday.  Over 400 people attended, including at least 50 alumni.  See pictures from the event HERE.

Alumni Spotlight: Clayton (B.S. Mathematics '08) and Kinsey Kell McKibbin (B.A. Religion '08)

Student Activities: We were both involved in Chorale, Chamber Singers, and Resident Life. Clayton also participated in Math and Science Club and In Charactre, and Kinsey was involved in MBU Ringers and Special Events.

Why you chose to attend MBU: Because it was small and close-knit; we felt included and able to make a difference here.

Favorite MBU Professors: Most of our instructors had a huge impact on our lives, but to call out a select few: Dr. Chambers, Dr. Larry Smith, Dr. McClain, and Dr. Bimes would top the list because each of those men showed that they were not only extremely competent in their subject areas, but also cared deeply for their students as individuals and would go out of their way to show it. This can be said about so many other instructors at MBU as well!

Favorite Memory: Mattress sledding at the dorms!

Occupation: Clayton works as a Graduate Studies Advisor at MBU and Kinsey works in retail at Gap and is a consultant for Thirty-one.

Hobbies: Traveling and road-tripping, game nights with friends, crafts and reading. We are well on our way to visiting all 50 states and all 7 continents!

Family: We have yet to expand our family, but look forward to that in the near future.

Anything else you want to share: MBU has meant a lot to both of us. It was here that we met, became best friends, fell in love, and shared many unforgettable memories. Not only did me meet each other, but we also met some of our best friends here on campus, friends that have helped shape us into the couple and individuals we are to this day.
