We hope you take some time to think about the blessings that surround you. Here at MBU, we are thankful for so many things, including our new Sports and Recreation Complex. Missouri Baptist University celebrated a dream fulfilled Nov. 3 with the formal dedication of the Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex (SRC). The 47,000 square foot SRC houses the University's Health and Sports Sciences division, a 1,000 seat gymnasium, a suspended indoor track, locker rooms, a concession area in Spartan Hall, state-of-the-art training and fitness centers, new classrooms and offices for faculty and coaching staff. Read more about the new facility HERE. Contact Jennifer Black if you would like to stop by for a tour of the building.
On October 30, MBU hosted the first Albert Pujols All-Star Basketball Game in the new SRC. MBU’s varsity basketball team competed against Pujols’ All-Star Team, which consisted of young adults who have Down syndrome. The event was closed to the public. Several celebrity athletes were on campus, including Albert Pujols, Matt Holliday, Mike Matheny, Aeneas Williams, Jahidi White, Kerry Robinson, Jackie-Joyner Kersee, Meadowlark Lemon and Ryan Coyne.

MBU students have traveled to Haiti every year for the past four years to serve the people of Haiti. This trip became especially important after the massive earthquake in January 2010. The MBU University Communications team put together an amazing video that includes highlights from the trip. See video from the trip HERE.
Alumni Spotlight: Alex Fox, B.S. Public Relations '10
Student Activities: Volleyball
Why you chose to attend MBU: Initially I heard about MBU through volleyball and athletics, but I really enjoyed the small school atmosphere and class size.
Favorite MBU Professors: Cessna Winslow from the Communications Department taught me about succeeding in the PR field outside of the classroom. She was really tough on her students, but also very intentional about teaching in a way that would allow students to succeed in the communications field from a real-world stand point.
Favorite Memory: My freshman year we made it to the final four for volleyball.
Occupation: I currently work in the PR field at Swank Motion Pictures. I work in PR and Client Relations for Universities around the country.
Hobbies: Spending time with my husband, Bryan, and two boys, Cash and Liam. I also love finding new things to do in St. Louis and spending as much time outside as possible.
Family: I am married with two little boys. My husband, Bryan, is the Boys Division Director for St. Louis High Performance Volleyball, and he also works with USA Volleyball to train and coach young men. We have two little boys, Cash (3) and Liam (8months), who keep us on our toes and without any dull moments. We are both originally from St. Louis and are thrilled to raise our kids here.
Anything else you want to share: I am very thankful for where I am in my life, both from a family stand point and career wise. I really enjoyed my time at MoBap, and the best piece of advice I would give a student who is about to graduate would be... Don't be afraid to network and use your connections, there are a lot of people who would love to help you.
