Hi MBU Alumni!

Alumni have been on campus in October for several events, including the MBU Run for Ronald 5K, the first annual Majors Fair to talk to students about possible career paths depending on their major, and an Events Committee Meeting.  Have you made it back to campus recently?  Now is the perfect time to come "home!"  Be one of the first to take in the sights of the new Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex during Homecoming week.

Faith and Family Day at the Edward Jones Dome

Join MBU alumni and local churches for Faith and Family Day at the Edward Jones Dome on November 20th at 3:05 p.m. when the Rams take on the Seattle Seahawks. A tailgate party beforehand from 1-2:30 will include games, food, autograph signings and inexpensive parking. The $40 ticket package includes the tailgate party, one game ticket, $10 food and beverage voucher, player testimonial DVD, and post-game on-field access.

Through the organization Christian Family Day (CFD), a portion of tickets sales will help bring at-risk children to the game. To help achieve the goal in bringing 500 at-risk children to this game, buy tickets through CFD. Go to: www.stlouisrams.com/faithcfd and use the promo code FaithCFD.  The MBU Alumni Association will hand out free t-shirts to alumni who attend.  Alumni who purchase tickets should contact Jennifer Black at BlackJM@mobap.edu or 314-744-7695 to find out how to get your complimentary t-shirt.

Alumnus Bert Bazemore '87 Starts Mentoring Program at Confluence Academy

A few weeks ago 16 young men and nine adult male mentors assembled at Confluence Academy Old North to launch the Men of Influence at Confluence Mentoring Program. The program was designed to teach young male students between 6th - 8th grade the importance of character building and how to use education to become positive and productive citizens in their respective communities in the future.

Bert Bazemore, Dean of Students at Old North, organized the program to show the young men how all of the male educators at the school will assist them in becoming successful.  The goal is to encourage constant and ongoing dialogue between students and mentors to help students achieve their goals and aspirations in life.

Alumni Spotlight: Jennifer (Sproehnle) Wheeler, DMD, B.S. Biology '05

Student Activities:  Soccer 2001-2004, cross country, indoor and outdoor track 2004-2005

Why she chose to attend MBU:  Juan Pablo Favero, the women's soccer coach recruited me from Kentucky, and I chose this school over others for the small, more intimate college setting over a larger university.  I liked that the class sizes and student-to-teacher ratio was small.  Also, I was a recipient of the Presidential Academic Scholarship so that enabled me to be able to 'afford' a private institution.

Favorite MBU Professors:  Dr. Deese for Physics and Dr. Bagley for English/Literature

Favorite Memory: Being part of a Nationally Ranked Soccer team (#12).  Making great, life-long friends from running cross country! Also, being a member of MBU's first track team since the program was re-added at MBU, and we placed 3rd in Nationals the first year together!

Occupation:  Dentist at Kehrs Mill Dental Arts, Ballwin, MO

Hobbies:  soccer, running, spending time with friends & family, dentistry

Family: Married my husband, Jason, on 7/24/10.

Other Notes: Some of the best friends I have are from my cross country team from MBU.  After college, I attended the University of Louisville, Kentucky where I earned my Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree.  I am originally from Northern Kentucky but decided to make St. Louis my permanent home when I completed dental school.
