Summer Happenings
The MBU Alumni Association will also be visiting the Missouri Botanical Gardens on August 3 during the Whitaker Music Festival. We've received an overwhelming response of interest. If you are registered for the event, check your e-mail this week for more details about the event. Fall is just around the corner, so what do we have in store? Save the date for Homecoming from October 28 - November 6. A group of alumni who attended or graduated from Missouri Baptist College in the 70's are planning a 70's reunion for Homecoming Weekend. Did you attend or graduate from MBC in the 70's? Go here for more information about a celebration just for you! St. Louis has experienced a couple of long weeks of extreme heat. Wherever you are, we hope you stay cool and make the most of your last few weeks of summer. |

Volunteers Needed: Welcome Weekend Death by Chocolate Event MBU will welcome over 300 new students on campus in less than a month. Do you remember your Welcome Weekend? The Alumni Association started a new tradition a few years ago - an event called Death by Chocolate. Students take a break from orientation activities and walk into a room full of chocolate goodies for them, all courtesy of alumni. How can you help? Donate chocolate: In order to feed over 300 hungry college students, we are asking alumni to donate chocolate. Brownies, cookies, cake...you name it, they'll eat it. Homemade and store-bought treats will be accepted. Donations can be dropped off Thursday, August 18 or Friday, August 19. Volunteer: Would you prefer to greet students and replenish chocolates as they are eaten? Come volunteer for the event, which is on Friday, August 19 from 7:45 - 8:30 p.m. If you are able to donate or volunteer, let us know so we can provide more details. Contact Jennifer Black at BlackJM@mobap.edu. |

Alumni Travel Groups Many alumni associations offer discounts on travel/tours. The MBU Alumni Association wants to gauge interest and determine if this is something we should do. If you are interested in traveling with MBU (for leisure, education, or as a service trip), please take this survey. |

Alumni Spotlight: Ryan Harris, B.S. Psychology '09, MBA '11
Why he chose to attend MBU: MBU accepted my Bible college credits Favorite MBU Professors: Holly Brand and Stephanie Kontrim-Baumann Favorite Memory: All of the fun soccer road trips and being the leading scorer on the team my junior year Occupation: Service Associate at T. Rowe Price Hobbies: I love to watch and play any sports but especially soccer, and I love a good practical joke! Family: I’ve been married to my wife, Lorna, for a year and a half and became a stepfather to Sir Walter Raleigh (Lorna's bichon-poo). Anything else you want to share: I’m very thankful MBU offers an MBA you can complete in a year. In addition it is affordable (especially if you have 2 scholarships). In this tough economy I was blessed to land a good job very quickly and I credit a lot of that to having that MBA. |
