UDAF updates from Athletic Director Eric Ziady

Dear Tim,

We’re all excited for our opening football game against Jacksonville University next Thursday night, August 29th at 7:30 p.m. As a loyal University of Delaware donor, we'd like to share some new game-day initiatives for the season. Our goal with each of these is to improve the game-day experience for all our valued supporters and fans.

As part of our State Branding Campaign, we are opening two Delaware Beer Gardens inside Delaware Stadium. They will sell Delaware beer from Dogfish Head Brewery and 16 Mile Brewery. Access to the Gardens will be exclusively for UDAF Donors, Premium Box Seat Holders and Delaware Diamonds Society members. At the game, UDAF members will need to check in at the Beer Garden to receive a season pass; Box Holders will show their game ticket for access; and Delaware Diamonds Society members will show their membership card. Beer will be limited to two per person (at time of purchase) and can be brought to your seats. Sales will end at the start of the fourth quarter.

This year, the seating arrangements in the boxes in Delaware Stadium are also being converted to bench-style seating to improve the fan comfort and enhance the appearance of the Stadium. The blue benches will include a supportive back. This addition was shared with box holders earlier in the summer, but a small number of box seats remain available and if anyone is interested in upgrading, please call the ticket office at 302-831-2257.

Also, for the ongoing safety and security of our student-athletes, coaching staff, game-day personnel and fans, Society members will now access the Bob Carpenter Club using the front main entrance of the Bob Carpenter Center (BCC) that faces South College Avenue of the BCC. The front doors will be open ninety minutes before games for Delaware Diamonds Society members and their up to 3 ticket holding guests.

We also invite you to come out and greet members of the Blue Hen football squad during pre-game as they march down Stadium Drive escorted by the Delaware Marching Band, Cheerleaders, and Spirit Groups to the locker room. The walk will begin approximately two and one-half hours before kickoff each game. Please also join us after each game and join the Blue Hens as they head to the southwest corner of the field to sing the alma mater along with the UD Marching Band and Spirit Squads.

Additionally, if you have not yet signed-up for our UDAF Tailgate on the 29th to kick-off the start of the 2013 football season, please click on this link to register: www.udel.edu/UDAFTailgate.

We will continue to upgrade the fan experience in the years ahead and are excited to share these initiatives now for the 2013 season. Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you Thursday night.
